An Arbor Day Parade in Nebraska City, Neb. brought out some nice creativity from Kansas City artist Matt Dehaemers for his what looks like a HUMMER H3 made of vines. Matt took home an award for Most Original Float which he titled “0 MPH”.
Matt created the sculpture during a four-week artist’s residency at the Kimmel Harding Nelson Arts Center in Nebraska City. He harvested the trees and grapevines used to create the piece from the nearby Kimmel Orchard and Vineyard, where “0 MPH” has been permanently installed amid a planting of vines. The idea is for the vines to “eventually consume the Eco-hummer,” Dehaemers said.
