New Jersey Dealer Goes Solar

A New Jersey HUMMER Dealer switches on the solar power.  The dealer is trying to use solar power to operate all electricity within the HUMMER dealership.  The move to solar power is not out of neccessity but out of good faith along with wanting to build an energy-efficient roof and a dealership that was friendly to the environment.  Other incentives for going solar include tax exemptions and rebates.

The Mahwah, N.J., Hummer dealership contacted Los Angeles-based Solar Integrated Technologies Inc. last week, the company said, saying it was interested in the company’s building integrated photovoltaic roofing system.

“We were attracted to the concept of combining a solar roof with our regular roofing needs,” said Larry Blum of Hummer of Mahwah in a Solar Integrated Technologies statement.

“We wanted to be the first dealer in the area to show how this can work and hope that many others follow our example,” Blum said.

“We were looking to build an energy-efficient roof and a dealership that was friendly to the environment,” Blum added.

I guess this is a step in the right direction for one HUMMER dealer, now if only we could get all dealers in sunny states to switch to solar consumers may look at HUMMER’s in a different way other then gas guzzlers.
